Book Synopsis: The gripping story you are about to read is true. From the streets of LA as a juvenile to the Gulf Coast community he has vowed to protect and serve, the author takes you on a wild journey. See him come of age and beat all odds. This book is about the life of a young black man growing up in South Central Los Angeles. From rural Texas to the inner city streets of L.A. and Houston, from lack to plenty, from great loss to gain; the road was long to becoming a law enforcement officer in Texas with a perilous detour through the Correctional System as a prison guard in the worst prison in Texas. This is my story. My name is Troi Gregory Johnson. I am thirty-seven years old, married with five children. I have broken my neck twice and had a total of five back surgeries. I have survived being struck by lightening and hit by a car. In total, I have broken seventeen bones and miraculously survived having been shot in the face. Regardless of what I have been through, I am whole, mind, body and spirit. The story you are about to read is real. It is raw but honest. It is this man’s journey. Some of the names and places have been changed out of respect for the individual or institution. |

Book Synopsis: Some stories deserve to be told. Dawfie's Story, many believe, is one of these. The idea for this book grew from a conversation with my publisher while working on the upcoming release of my first children's book, "Crowbaby and Dawfie", After sharing some stories about the real characters in the book, Tim encouraged me to consider writing an adult book as a companion to "Crowbaby and Dawfie'". Once the idea was planted, I couldn't let it go. My mind worked overtime, pulling together bits and pieces of memories, until; finally 1 felt this book come to life.
Doris Lucille Cochran was born to Tommie and Ola Cochran on July 29, 1932. Her family, which consisted of her mother, father and two older brothers, lived in southwest Louisiana, very near where the Sabine River marks the state's boundary with Texas. History reveals just how far we have progressed in assisting handicapped people in helping them to live a productive life. Unfortunately, Dawfie (her pronunciation of Doris) was born too early to benefit from the early diagnosis and intervention so prevalent today.' The diagnosis of autistic and in particular, autistic savant, was not obtained until she was well past fifty years old. Simply put, she lived for sixty years in what many may think of as an unappealing life. Yet those of us fortunate enough to have known her would testify that Dawfie's life, while limited in many ways, was far from unappealing. She lived her life surrounded by the small things she valued, structured by her daily routine, and expressed through her music and drawings. This, then, is Dawfie's story. Tim planted the seed. I did the watering and the story grew. It is my hope that my readers will reap the harvest. |

Book Synopsis: “Albert Diaz needed to have written his story. It’s a testament to the authority and power of prayer. So many times throughout his career – from the capture of one of the FBI’s ten-most-wanted, the breakup and arrest of national and international drug dealers, and through his own personal ordeal of seeking justice – Albert was the recipient of God’s full Grace. Because of the prayers of his parents, Albert Diaz can look back on many occasions throughout his career and proclaim the words of the Prophet Daniel, ‘The Lord sent an angel and shut the mouth of the lions.” Internal Conflict needs to be read by all. In Internal Conflict, Albert Diaz, a law enforcement professional of the highest order, and co-author Leah Burns, perfectly illustrate the fact that there is no hell evil enough, no darkness dark enough, no hole deep enough, where God can not reach in and touch.” Dr. David Guel
President, CHE-Concerned Hispanic Evangelicals Executive Vice President, National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders (CONLAMIC) Member, White House Compassion in Action Roundtable Albert Diaz & Leah Burns have masterfully written a thought provoking, spiritually challenging and life changing story. Book Synopsis: "Sincerely Mary" is a delightful collection of columns written by Mary Lee Shannon, the owner and editor of the small town Texas newspaper, the Wharton Spectator, during the 1950’s.
She editorialized in an era that a person could speak their mind clearly and without the filter of political correctness. She said exactly what she meant. For this reason, her writing provoked an immediate response. Issue by issue, the reader was either touched by her sincere compassion or was enraged by her politics. Her writing was not the frivolous voice of an uninformed debutante, to the contrary, hers was the rational voice of Mid-Century America before politics and radical idealism took hold. The book is lovingly compiled and edited by her daughter-in-law, author, Pat Shannon. |

"We didn’t have much money, but our love for each other held us together," said Pat, who now lives in the old homestead with "Chica" her tabby cat, and is thrilled to finally have this work in print. "Although I am not a writer, I am ecstatic to be embarking on this new literary career. At age 75, this project has been one of the highlights of my life!" |
